The Newton Moor trig point is situated on the modest moorland height of the same name north of Hellifield and was built in 1949 as part of the third order of trig points.

The trig point can be visited on nice little walk out of Long Preston or Hellifield. Dales heights in view include Rye Loaf Hill, Kirkby Fell, Cracoe Fell, Sharp Haw and, most impressively, Ingleborough. Also in view in what is an extensive panorama are Easington Fell, Weets Hill and Pendle Hill.
