A large family Boxing Day walk doing a simple anti-clockwise circuit of Swinsty Reservoir.

The anti-clockwise circuit of Swinsty Reservoir is quite possibly the walk that I’ve done more than any other. It lends itself particularly well for a short family walk and such was the case on Boxing Day when no less than thirteen of us met up at the car park on the eastern side of the reservoir.
On this occasion 13 was not an unlucky number as we enjoyed the brightest day at Swinsty that I’ve experienced in a long time. It was also incredibly windy but for the most part we were largely sheltered from the worst gusts by the woodland that surrounds this lovely reservoir.
“All in all this was a lovely outing getting some post Christmas Day fresh air with the family, exactly what Boxing Day should be all about.”
The walk is simple to follow with good paths all the way round. It was great to catch up with everyone especially two of my nephews and four of my nieces. I spent a lot of my time taking pictures of everyone and discussing photo techniques with my nine year old niece Shannon who had just got her first ever camera for Christmas. She took almost as many pictures as I did!
The two babies in the group, Chloe and Jake, slept for most of the walk in their pushchairs. A special well done though to the two toddlers, Zara and Daniel both of whom managed to walk over half the distance before shoulder and buggy rides were required as they began to flag.
