A half mile upstream from How Stean Gorge there is a modest little two-drop waterfall. Unmarked on the map it is located in a stretch of woodland called Cliff Wood, so I’ve given this attractive little waterfall the not particularly original name of Cliff Wood Falls.
In the height of summer when the trees are in leaf and views of the beck from the path are partially obscured, it would be easy to miss the waterfall. While Cliff Wood Falls can be seen from the path it requires a careful scramble down the bank, over some mossy tree roots, to get a really good look at it. As can be seen from the picture above it is worth the effort.
